An ocean to dive deeper
An unexplored cosmos, largest of all imaginable worlds, elementary event and eternal place of longing. It is the origin and substance of all life - the sea. Let us give it the attention it deserves. With a project series that makes the sea tangible with all senses - immersive and intermedial - OCEANS 21.
The project series
OCEANS21 a project series on the fascination and endangerment of the oceans - to hear and see, feel and experience, interact and understand.
Life on earth would be unthinkable without the oceans, many connections we are only now beginning to understand. The largest biosphere on earth is still unexplored in many parts holding exciting secrets, but is getting more and more under massive pressure generated by human impacts.
OCEANS21, scientifically based and artistically staged, makes the manifold aspects and threats of the marine habitat emotionally and intellectually tangible and encourages action: let’s make our seas clean, healthy and resilient again.
Because the responsibility for the future of the Oceans is ours now.
The Bone - A Virtual Reality Artwork
The Story Behind
How did the idea for The Bone and the collaboration with the artist Michelle-Marie Letelier come about? The cinematic portrait of the project approaches the origin, intention and background of the VR artwork in outstanding aesthetics and exceptional narrative style.
A film by Michael Krautter, produced by OCEANS21.
How Salmon live
The Bone transports us into the consciousness streams of wild and farmed salmon. We experience the different living conditions of these animals in poetic-mythical form. The Bone addresses the ecological and ethical issues that are becoming increasingly urgent with the rapidly growing salmon industry worldwide and questions the increasing alienation between man and nature. A project in artistic collaboration with Michelle-Marie Letelier, Martin Lee-Müller and Artificial Rome, co-produced by the Interactive Media Foundation and Art Republic, commissioned by Screen City Biennial 2019.
We, Diana Schniedermeier and Ina Krüger stand behind the project series OCEANS21, and have also named a company the same way. Our passion is the communication of socially relevant topics through contemporary media at the interface of art, science and technology. Curiosity and the courage to always break new ground have characterized our work for over 20 years.
In partnership with the Interactive Media Foundation, internationally renowned artists and scientists, we have realized large-scale and multiple award-winning projects in recent years, including Das Totale Tanz Theater and Inside Tumucumaque.
Our productions are shown worldwide in renowned cultural institutions such as the Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart, Akademie der Künste or Palais Populaire in Berlin, Centre Phi in Montreal, ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam or Ars Electronica in Linz.
Shaping digital transformation in culture and media
Digital transformation poses challenges for all areas of social life. Professionally, we have been meeting this challenge in a wide range of industries since the introduction of the Internet. Digital transformation is therefore much more than just buzzwords for us; we know how comprehensive even seemingly small changes can be. We bring proven competence, openness, scientific rigor and a realistic view for creative opportunities and risks to any project. And a consultancy that never sees itself as a "collection of well-meant advice", but rather as a meaningful dovetailing of concept and implementation.

Not always the easiest way, but one that also rewards us all with new insights and knowledge.
